sub with jbl 2213H need help

Hello,

I have got an never used JBL 2213H in original box and best condition.

I want to built a subwoofer for souuround (other speakers are evm 10m + jbl 2425 + 2344A).

I have an aktive subwoofer amp modul.

A look in JBL 4312 technical manual network shows
- 1.5 mH in line to + Speaker and
- 0.01 uF parallel to 24 uF + 3.9 Ohm between + and - of speaker.

I do not understand this.

If you calculate the speaker a big cabinet of 200 Liter is needed, but 4312 Monitor is a 42 Liter cabinet???

What do I have to do to built a 42 Liter Sub with aktive subamp? Is there any passive network requested?

If you use the 2213H in simulation, you'll notice a bump in the lower department. (40-50 hz). As used in the 4312 (a), 4311, they tend to colour a bit.

The Qts of the 2213H is more suitable for a closed enclosure.

Also note that in simulations you need to multiply the liters as used in your simmulation with ~1.2 if you are using dampning material, such as synthetic wool. Doing this with WinISD, you'll get pretty accurate simmulations.

With an active sub, the amp normal enables you (next to the volume) to adjust the low-boost, tuning frequency of that low boost, and cut-off. this means you don't neccesarely need passive components.

Yeah, the cone excursion will hit limits pretty soon if used in a closed box.

for a 60L enclosure, at 30 hz its max SPL will be only 98 db and the max power between 20-50hz is only 70 watts

You'll need a highpass filter to keep it save.

Hmmmm I had planned to use this driver in 2.5 to 3 cu ft sealed for an econowave, should I just make it ported, ( I really wanted sealed as we had previously discussed) or is this excursion problem only with it used as a sub? I tend to drive the Ewaves pretty loud! I want to begin this project soon!

Not suitable for sub.

We've built several systems using them closed box.

At some point, there's a LF SPL limit, as with all speakers.

I've never reached it with these, but people seem to be able to destroy 2213H in 4311B, even.

Program content is a factor, too; how low, how much?

If you find you want more, add a sub and highpass the 123A/2213 boxes.
