Hi:

I have some 2241 baskets and am thinking of putting in:

2242 Voice coils
2245 cones and surrounds

Do our experts think its worth it?

Suggestions?

You would have to determine ALL the T/S specs and the stiff spider would probably doom you anyways. Also I think there is a size issue with the 2242 coil vs the 2241 coil - better check first.

I would suggest reconing it as a 2241 with a RUBBER surround ( AKA the auto types ) and selectively relaxing the spider stiffness with a razor blade.

BUT it will still pale when compared to a stock 2242 with a *tiny* bit of eq for output / reliability
