    Xover function explained

Hey all, in my desire to learn more about active xovers I came across an article explaining the operation of both passive and active xovers. Very easy to understand with some helpful hints on initial setup and system requirements. Good short read. Enjoy.

Running a crossover without the HF load present

This was a really good read, and worth moving to the top again.

    Could someone answer this question....

I am comparing woofers, in several cabinets, using a passive JBL crossover, LX-5 model, and also 3110A model.
IF I run each cabinet, with the HF driver disconnected, Just to hear the woofer only, is this a problem?

Does the crossover need to see a load from both drivers, to run as designed?

Should one be putting a resistor across the HF terminals to simulate a load?

    thanks Don

I will not expect any problem ( with LX-5 or 3110a networks) while using standard transistor amplifiers to drive bass section only.
