    JBL Dance Club 5 Loudspeakers

    Have you seen this?

    http://www.jblpro.com/pub/cspels/Dance5%205-5-03.pdf

Looks nice. Does not seem to have built in crossovers. I wonder if it would work in hifi environment with some modern digital crossovers.

WOW - VERY cool looking design for clubs - built on demand ... !
Thanks for the heads up on that!

    Very interesting, thanks Niklas!

Looks expensive tho (haven't find any price for a new unit) :

here is the full dance-club offering :

the dance 3 would also be nice as rear HT speakers!

In the same logic (adapt a current SR product for hifi or monitoring) the SRX738 also looks quite promising (modify with coated diaphragm, custom active crossover and compensation filter, and some box damping and bracing). It is much cheaper (mass product). Could we call this a 4345 2010 ?

Yes it is very cool. I saw it yesterday, I wonder how I could miss it before that. Very very strange.

Yes, itīs like the JBL K2 S9500 on steroids, but with two horn loaded 8" drivers. Impressive. Those loudspeakers must lack distortion

Built on demand. What is the price

Hah! I was a college freshman when Tommy came out. A year later I was listening to it on my brand new L100s, which put my old Electrophonic system to shame.

The L100 is no Dance Club 5, but a pair is plenty for an 8x10 dorm room.

    Out.

Was torn between the Dance line from JBL and EV/Dynacord for a club install I did. In the end I went with the EV. Nothing against JBL but I am 100% happy with my results!

I wonder how they sound. (Dance 5) At the local cinema there is installed several JBL systems in different theater rooms. In the largest one, all except the bass is not good. I believe the system is to small for the room. A lot of distortion when played at THX standard spl. In the smaller theater rooms, where the ticket cost more the sound is much better.
