amplifier for 4333

I just picked up a pr of 4333 a few days ago. I have a krell ksa150 & 300B SET with Sp-9, and another cheap chinese tube amp using KT-88. When i paired them with krell, the sound is unbearable, HF is too sharp and bass is weak. But they sound much better with the tube amps. The vocal is very warm with the 300B, but the bottom is still weak. While using the KT-88, more bass but a bit grainy.

I am able to locate a MC7270 and C34 combo, and am not sure if it is a wise decision. Or you have a better idea....

I used a pair of 4333A's for a couple of years. For general listening my MC2200 McIntosh was a good overall compromise. The newer Mac amp would be better than that. A 60 wpc 6550 P-P amp (Audio research VT60) gave a much more refined sound at low and moderate volumes, which is how I do most of my listening, so that's the amp I had hooked up most of the time.

I never tried a low-powered amp. If your speakers are the A version they are biwireable/biampable. The filtering and high pass stay in the circuit for the horn and tweeter (as does the zoebel on the woofer), but you need to provide low pass for the woofer with an external high level crossover. If you can do that, then your 300B amp could work the horn and 2405 and you could use your choice of amps for the woofer.

Otherwise, I think the McIntosh solid state amp would work well.

150w per channel (under 8 ohms) is a minimum. Considering a minor budget, I would go for a Crown DC300s2.
