    2407 w/o horn

Bought a pair of 2407/4540ND and found out that the flare inside the horn begins with (probably) exp as long as the phaseplug is and then goes over to conical. The flare is in the the ballpark of 750Hz. So it is already a small horn.....

My idea is to use them as supertweeters from 8kHz.

Has anyone measured the driver without horn?

I have never tried this, but I would be really interested in hearing about the results of such an experiment!

I think westlake did just that with some 1" driver used as tweeter in there old models, before they used a dedicated mini smith horn.

Also an article in l´Audiophile from the 80´s described a system with 414 Onken, a rebuilt 511/808(?) with an Altec 902 w/o horn on top.
