    Impedance Advise Needed

    Hello all
I have an chance to purchase a pair of nice Cerwin Vega speakers that are rated 4ohms nominal.
Will there be any issues driving these with an 8ohm multi channel amp along with my JBLs (all 8 ohm ) ?

Might be better to ask them over on the Cerwin Vega forum.

You mean each channel is rated at 8 ohms only?

If so, no you should not use 4-ohm speakers. I would think distortion will be higher and amp may become unstable. But consult the OM for the amp. That should tell you.

In general, 4-ohm load is MORE taxing on the current capability of an amp than an 8-ohm load, not less.

    Thanks for your input

I decided to buy these speakers and drive them with a dedicated amp. I just wanted something to shake the floor until l find the right JBLs at a fair price.
I'm looking at a pair of CF-150s now but can't decide as the weight seems a bit light.
Its all about the compromise isn't it ?
