    L-300's Le-85's modded to JBL 365?

Year's ago, I read an artical where the inherent JBL LE-85 mids had been replaced with the highly regarded JBL 365 mids. I suppose one would have to re-diaphram to 8 ohms... I was curious if anyone else has performed this mod. Or perhaps know where I could obtain information on this subject?

It was the 375/2440 or 376/2441 and it was a DIY system called the S22.

The S300 was the DIY version of the L300/4333.

I knew I had seen it before. It was an actual converted unit I saw. Well, I saw in a picture... I have also seen the 2215a woofer in the L-300 cabinet as well... Wish I had an actual picture.
    ~THANKS 4313B!

I guess a crossover change would be in order then Mr W. ??? 16 ohms would change the x-over point on the original L-300 unit. At least I would assume...

You might want to change the networks but not because of the impedance. Someday we are going to create a FAQ thread to deal with this and polarity and...

The LE85 never was 8 ohms even if you have one with that printed on it. JBL printed different impedances at different times on several drivers back then... you can do some searches here and find out more about this if you are curious.

Wow, I have never heard that before. That's valuable info. Thanks... I do have to re-cap the x-overs my L-300's. I've noticed some bass trying to escape out of the LE-85's (Bad)! Right now I have my 300's crossed at 200hz. Nothing below 200 will make it through the 300's. If I go lower, it would surely be fatal for the LE-85's. I've not been into the x-overs in the L-300s. I'm worried JBL will have some of there homemade caps on board. I hope there values are clearly marked...

I'm looking forward to the "sticky"...

Here is a copy of the L300 network schematic that I pulled from this site by doing a search. If you can't find these values you can always add up caps in parallel to get the values you need.

Thanks Mr. Widget... I tucked the schematic into my JBL folder, so it'll be ready when I start that project. I guess all things JBL are pretty much right here. I can only imagine being able to find this information, by pressing a few keys in the 70's and 80's... I started computing in the year 2000, and ever since. I've been like a kid in a candy store... Now if I could find someone willing to donate a couple JBL 375's

May be easier to find 375s than part #52978.
