Right. My first encounter with JBL was LE8T in a cabinet made by Sansui called SP-LE8T back in 1960s.
Sansui was selling vintage models like Paragon, Olympus, Lancer models, professional models like 4333, 4343 etc. in Japan
They also made cabinets JBL stopped the production like C40 and installed speaker units such as 001.
I think Sansui was a sole agent/dealer for JBL in Japan before Harman International Japan took over.
I had a pair of Sansui 12" 2-ways that were missing drivers, but the cabinet sure resembled a L88 JBL system.
Even down to the curved port in the cabinet.
This was a product local to Japan only and I think a GI might have brought it home from across the pond.

Sansui was JBL's distributor up until 1985 when Harman Japan was established

I remember now the speaker system model nr was the SP-300.

Maybe it is important to some, but the real JBL's is made in the US. Not by any other companies around the world.
Same thing goes with the DD66000 ... Do you people know the cabinets are made in Denmark??

I think they called it the "Harkness". I got the construction prints from JBL and made a pair. I put my D140Fs in them and put the LE 175 driver and horn/lens on top.
This looks like a variation of the JBL cabinet. John
I bet they didnt license this design from JBL
this was a complete rip off
I have a pair and they don't sound any thing like the le25 JBL put in the L26.
I also have seen most cabinets from the 1960 to 1980's that there made in japan (sansui, kenwood, pioneer)
use some cheap kind of wood that looks like some type of plywood(not very strong and very light).
does anyone what type of wood it was??

The cabinet came came out in 1957, the plains call for it to on it's side with short legs. This takes up a lot of floor space, I set mine up vertical as show in the picture. John
