    Building ultimate JBL speakers. W15GTi?

Hey all. This is my 1st post on the forum.

Thinking building up some massive awesome JBL speakers, same sort of size as the DD66000Everest speakers, although no doubt not in the same league.

I was thinking basing it, either side, on two W15GTi subwoofers (the new ones, car subs), a 12" 2213 mid-bass from a JBL 4311, and the high-mid LE5-6, which is very similar to the JBL LE-12 that comes from a 4312, with attenuation on the crossover to reduce that 6k lump.

I'd also have a non-jbl dome tweeter that gives a flat response, or one of those "blue-crystal" jbl tweeters.

    Your thoughts?

Has anyone ever used the W-GTi series in their main speakers? I know some have used them as subs, I saw one person on here using a W10GTi 1st gen on their surround speakers i believe.

One thing that concerns me is the fact that the JBL W-GTi has a completely different cone surface to similarly sized speakers in the JBL Pro side of things, including the drivers in the DD66000 and the JBL 1500SUB.

And if anyone had to build the ultimate pair of JBL speakers (no external subwoofers, although I would encorporate the W15GTi subs into a different part of the enclosure), what would be in them?

    Cheers,
    Arthur

If I was going for an Everest like low end I would go with a pair of 15" 2234's as used in the 4435 monitor and go from there. That lowend is quite impressive and more in line with what you would want in your livingroom.

Which makes me ask... has anyone paired up the 4435 bottom end with a 2452H-SL/waveguide top end?

I'm not quite sure that the 2452H-SL has enough bottom end on the waveguide to make it work. Does the TAD?

I have 2nd and 3rd generation W10GTis in surround speakers with 2425s and they work very well together, though I really have a lot of attenuation on the horn. My W10GTis give up about 11-12 dB to my 2235/LE175/075 mains and center. But they are smoother and can put out plenty of deep bass.

I also use the W15 for a sub in my center channel cabinet (cabinet is separated internally) and did frequency response curves on it. It was as smooth/smoother out to 1.1KHz than a 2235 mounted in the same cabinet and kicked butt on the bass end.
