Hello Friends,
Last Fridaynight surfing the internet i found a pair of DIY JBL's on Dutch Marketplace. They were remodelled and they looked ugly.
Yuck, light green ! But when studying the details i learned the owner had used JBL 4312 A components (2213H; 104H3 and 035Ti). I own a pair of JBL 4312 A's myself and i thought it could be useful to have some spareparts. I phoned the seller and after talking for a while he made me a nice price. The loudspeakers are pretty big for a JBL 4312 A combination.
They measure about H 48" x W 12" x D 16". Saturday i picked up the loudspeakers and when i was ready to leave the owner asked me to wait for a moment. He went into the house again and he came back with the book "The JBL Story" and he handed it to me as a present. At that moment i didn't know what i liked most, the book or the green monsters. I already informed my wife on forehand me taking home a pair of green ugly ducks. When i came home and took them into the house my wife was gobsmacked. She had never seen such horrible looking loudspeakers. Of course i was curious to learn how these speakers sounded and i connected them to my Harman Kardon 16a power amplifier and....wow......a tight, open and controlled sound filled my room. Telling my wife the other day i had plans to take out the components she said it would be a loss to demolish these green monsters.
Me being a faithful and loyal husband wouldn't dare to argue about the speakers' seize (lol)!!!!!
Now i will paint them in a nice black glossy colour and i will replace the iron grids for black speakerclothing.
With kind regards,
