Someone in Russia must be making some decent speakers ? Just a thought but I have never encountered any or anything at all. The nearest was Videoton from Hungary ( now a big OEM supplier of consumer products to Tannoy ):dont-know

NOPE!
I was frequently in russia the last 5 years.
The poor russians use cheapest china / taiwan stuff.
The middle class (almost not there) use normal home theater stuff mainly from japan.
Rich russians buy whatever has a famous name: B&O, Bose, ML, Burmester, Pass, JBL, all the highend speaker brands, Lexicon etc. etc.
i have heard of some nice 80s era russian synthesizers....
like 'polyvok' and 'RITM-2'

I know there was a company in Russia, they duplicated the JBL, Altec and Tannoy. They fabricated woofers, duplex speakers like Tannoy, and tweeters like the the JBL 077. I searched on the www, but I can't find them anymore. I only have 2 pages in my computer, from a download years ago.
I know some people here in Holland they bought them and use them in the 90's. Two of them sold there JBL's and use these. I have listened to these speakers, and I can say there not bad at all, but if they are better than the JBL, I don't think so.
If they were Russian you might be waiting a while for mirror image pairs...LOL
I know where there is a pair of Rosewood Klipschorns in Russia.
Do we even have any Russian forum members ?
this topic is funny
btw i know 1 thing or two bout Hungarian equiptment, I'm sure our taperecorders and turntables were better than our speakers
