    Well,..I did not expect this

    For the past 5 years, my listening system has been from my computer,
    to a Soundcraft 200B mixer, and from there to a pair of Genelec 1032A speakers. Delightful, and very loud.

    As a sales rep for Harman, I decided to replace this with 2 LSR 4628 powered monitors, and a LSR 4612 powered sub. Yikes.

    I loaned out this system to a dealer so he could demo it. I was left with nothing at home.

    So I hauled out the old 4301 control monitors that I bought new in 1974 or so, and a Crown D60. Well, although this combo goes nowhere near the SPL of the other systems, the sound quality is amazing.

    Two steps forward, numerous steps back.

    Check your surrounds before turning them up.

    Yes, some of these classic systems are quite marvelous... even better if you get that computer out of the front end.

    A 200 "B"

    That 200 B was from the era of really nice British mic pres.

    Interesting use of the console.

    I think I still have a 10 channel one of those around that I may just hook up after reading this post.
