JBL Olympus / PRO version?

Was there ever a PRO version of the JBL Olympus, like 43XX ?

It seems they were available as a build it yourself kit at some stage, with manuals for the cabinet construction and wiring etc.

Is there a brochure on the Olympus S8R ?
It seems strange to me that the speakers I have found are almost exactly the S8R olympus but with
BASs: 15 " JBL 136 A & JBL PR 15 C. mids: JBL LE 85. tweeters: JBL 077
crossovers LX5 and N8000.
With papers and instructions and everything else.

It doesn't just seem like another DIY set.

There sort of was. JBL developed a relatively famous pro installation for sound reinforcement for the Mormon Tabernacle. It consisted of separate bass bins and external 375's on the large JBL slant plate lens. The bass bins contained an LE15A and PR15 each, which was the bass configuration of the Olympus S8R and S7R. I had a picture of this at one time and I'll try to dig up a copy if I can.

It doesn't just seem like another DIY set.

- I'll grant that churches are a special case ( ie; install market ) but anecdotally, the Pro industry hasn't had much use for Passive Radiators ( especially in live reinforcement ) .

- The reason being ; we don't really want our woofers to sound as "loose" as that "infamous" 12 incher found in the L100 ( 4310/11 )..

- Back in the ( mid to late ) seventies, we were mostly using horn loaded bass scoops ( 4520 & 4530s ) due to the fact that mega watts were hard to come by ( or non-existant till the Phase Linear 700 came along / plus speakers "burned up" a lot easier back then ) .

Questions :
- What do the papers & instructions say ?
- Do they give you a sense that these components came with the enclosures ?
- Are the enclosures finished in wood veneer or are they painted ?

- I reread those threads of yours that you linked to . You really have had quite a journey to this point / ( 4341s, L200, etc. etc. ) . Nice read / & I can understand wanting to move beyond the radio station 4320, etc. to something more in line with your present circumstances .

Yeh, it's amazing how nice they dress up with that nice wood finish and full width foilcal .
