Has the E110 any value for hifi?

Quick question, is there any use for E110 drivers? I looked at the info on the JBL site, these were clearly intended for instrument amplification, can they also be used in hifi like some similar 10", or would a recone be mandatory for this sort of use?

I have access to a pair and wonder if they'd be any good in between a LE-15A or 2235 and 2450's, maybe 300-800 Hz, or if it's just a waste of time and effort,

    Thanks,

Sorry if the question is dumb, but are the recone kits still available?

I think you could also recone them as 2123's as used in the 4344MKII. They are different sounding than the 2122, especially with female vocals.

I have 8 e110s, 4 are used for mids in my dj speakers. We used 2240 - 18' for lows, 1-e110 for mids at 250Hz up, then into a 2404 baby butt cheek tweeter to go from 3.5khz up to daylight. We built those in 1981, and made some modifications to them in 1984.

I still use them for weddings and gigs.

    NOW, knowing what I do,...

I want to recone them as 2123, add a smith style 2397 horn on a 2425, and either stick with the 2404 baby butt tweeter, or go to a 2405 slot. Also, I can stick with the 2240, or I have 4 2245's sitting here for lows...

Gee... sounds like a 4344! Same exact cabinet(EN8).

So, no. I don't know of any hifi use for an e110. Tha basket is worth more than the cone kit.

    Scott.

ps. I have 4-D110 baskets I got from Mike Caldwell, just waiting for some 2122 or 2123's. Anyone have any cone kits?
