    JBL in music history

    Hi all,
The other night a great doucmentary on Peggy Lee (Fever: The Music Of Peggy Lee) was on. There was a segment on the program where they were recording a session. I noticed a JBL speaker in the background. I looked it up in my 1967 JBL catalog (PL6700 January, 1967). It is the C53 cabinet with either a JBL LE 14A or LE14C. Another tribute to JBL.

Good chance that this was at Capitol Records. Capitol was "ful" of JBLs around those times. In a dated photo I recently noticed a model 4320 lurking behind some record company exec- name and company escapes me- in his office. The picture captured a fair bit of his office but only one was in view in the background. Easy to see why the smaller monitors gained popularity.

I just bought a monitor wedge with an LE14C in it. Looks like it needs some repair.

Are these worth enough to repair? I can't find any info on it.

    Thanks, Terry

Thanks for the links. Interesting design. As to my other question, Do you think it's worth fixin'? I think it just need to be refoamed. Not sure who make refoam kits for 14" speakers though. Any ideas?

    Thanks, Terry

Yes, fix it, keep it. Surround I would think same as LE14A

I have never heard them, but I would certainly fix them if I had found them.

Damn right! Fix that sucker! Even if you don't want to keep it indefinitely, you'll definitely be able to recoup the cost of a refoam job, selling it later!

    Regards,
    Gordon.
