    Question Thorens H3lp ??

I bought a beautiful Thorens TD-166 Mk 2 tonight,,,,,,really nice shape, EXCEPT,,, it is missing the anti-skate weight. (see borrowed pix)

Q: where can these be obtained ?? If too much trouble, I assume one could be made......anyone know length of line and weight to attach ???

It's going to be difficult to find the right weight. I don't know how much it should weigh. I suggest to make one from a little nut and some fishing line. You will need to get a blank record with no grooves. The Shure audio obstacle course is one example. Then you can use that to test to see if your weight is enough, and try different weights. Maybe start with a #4, then if that's not enough try a #6 and so on. When the weight is set so that the arm doesn't drift left or right on the blank record, it's set correctly.

Included belong 2 weights. 1 small 0.6 grams and a greater 1,4 grams . If big weight in the owner's manual is both weights = 2.0 grams meant.

Here's an anti-skate weight for a Pro-Ject tt, from the Needle Doctor. You might be able to make it work:

    http://www.needledoctor.com/Project-...t?category=433

This site has an abundance of info on Thorens, including the part # you're looking for (Z7874013) :

    http://www.theanalogdept.com/thorens_part_nums.htm

And here's a generic anti-skate weight from LP Gear:

Hey Seadood, is that an Infinity black Widow Tonearm? GREAT ARM DOOD, GREAT.

Put a Clearaudio Woodbody, or a GRADO reference Platinum Woodbody on that MF, and SHE WILL SING TO YOU!

Believe it or not, we used to DJ on Thorens TD-125,s, AND they were on a platform suspended by RUBBER bands in a special console. Floating they call it, I have a console like this in my place, BUT, MAN, those Thorens and their leaf spring suspensions, on bouncy rubbewr band suspensions, YOU DINT DARE OPEN THE VOLUME POT for that table till the precise moment of mix.

    They sound good, though.

thanx all for the links....I think one page had the weight and length needed.

on a German site (my German is weak), in a table , it looks like the arm is a Rega ?

Modell MotorTeller Gleichlauf/Rumpeln Tonarm /SystemPreis war

    Thorens TD 166 16-pol,Synchron 2,7kg Zamak<0,04% >72dB Rega RB 250DM

it has the original box and included a QLM32 mk3 cartridge. The cover and base look very good, runs quiet. After I clean it up, will post some pics.

I just have to post the THORENS pic that was found while researching the missing weight ...

    Hello Seawolf,

The TP11 tonearm has interchangeable tonearm pipes. There is the TP62 and TP63 armtube. Here is a picture of your TP62 tonearm tube, but on a TP16 tonearm.
