    Hi ,

I believe that the D16R2421 can fit.
The 275 is the pre model of LE 85 or the later pro series 2420/21.
Best infos may only come from Giskard for this problem.
I don't know the gap space of the 275.

I believe the 275 takes either the LE175 diaphragm or the LE85 diaphragm. The LE175 diaphragm is still available it its the D16R2410

And here is an original LE85 diaphragm. (Don't let the printed impedance fool you, they were all 12ohm. Some years labeled 16 ohm and others 8 ohm.)

You will have to determine which of the two above diaphragms it takes. If it is the LE85 (2420), you should jump on this auction as the new improved 2421 diaphragm will be different from the original.

I believe, the 275 is essentially an LE85 without the silver impedance controlling ring.

The 175 and the 275 used exactly the same diaphragm assembly. There never was a diaphragm assembly for the 275; it simply used the 175 assembly.

    Welcome "Hifi",

Could you shed some light on the impedance labeling thought process at JBL? Specifically why many JBLs were labeled as having different impedances during different decades even though technically there was no actual change.

Even back then, louder was better, and the 16 ohm drivers were closer to 8 ohms, etc. Mostly marketing gimmick.

Can you confirm that the only difference betweent he 275 and the LE85 was the addition of a silver impedence ring on the latter. They were both in the catalog at the same time for a brief period around 1960 and it seemed strange that there would be a different model number for such a minor difference.

After the tremendous response we had to the LE series, it was decided that we needed some horn drivers for the bigger LE systems. The LE85 was pretty much a 285 in black crinkle paint. I don't remember if the original LE85 diaphragms even had the shorting ring.
