Yes they make excellent AC/DC welders and are sold for that use.

DC to 50KHZ linear response with over 120volts out. I love the little sticker near the speaker terminals that says LETHAL voltage.

They require 3phase 208/240 BUT if you have the guts, and some extra filtercaps, you can put a bridge rectifier right ON the wall outlet and that will give the appox 165VDC single ended voltage the amp needs. Just make sure one side of the line / chassis / speaker lead doesn't touch ground or YOU will get spot welded.

Sounds interesting - I just checked the specs n the PS-400 - but, 165w/ch - whats the next up from that? something around 200-300w/ch range ...

I got this one for $225 on C/L to drive my W15GTI in bridge mode. Note that I actually lucked into this one as it was custom made by Crown for ShowCo as noted by the XH (for eXtended Headroom). Some in this forum worked on these special ShowCo models and note that they are hard to beat for power, sound, and reliability.
