    Fixing a DUAL dd-tt ???

I've been auditioning my turntable collection to determine which belongs in my system. Last one today was the moost expensive one, a DUAL 701 direct drve with a V-15-T3. Hooked it up and sounded great. About 4 minutes into playing.....it died, and slowly came to a stop. DEAD. even the strobe wont come on. Felt like a blown fuse.

    1. do these HAVE fuses ? (cant seem to get the bottom off to check)

    2. If no fuses...what else could be the problem ? Have tried different sockets, it wont turn on. Power switch ?

have searched the web to no avail. ANYBODY ???

"1. do these HAVE fuses ?"

    yes look schematic.

    Service Manual :

If the fuse blows repeatedly check D1-D4 and C3, C1, C2 (in that order)

I have put full manual tt's next to full auto tt's and I guess that the difference is not apparent. In that case might as well do full auto, hence trying to resurrect the Dual 701. I also dont really hear the difference between DD and BD. The Dual blew second fuse and I just dont want to play with it, as I have other tt's.

So over the weekend, I put up the SL-Q3 (http://www.vinylengine.com/library/technics/sl-q3.shtml) and today mounted the V-15/3 and it sounds great. Its really about all I need for
    non-super-critical listening.

Have not forgotten Macaroonie's recommendation of the Denon cart , just not needed right now.

    JBL connection

I was doing some tt reading on this very nice site
    http://www.soundfountain.com/amb/amb.html

and they were going on about Turntable Weights....to keep vinyl flat..followed the links, geeze, some of these can be $150 or more.

The ideal weight seems to be approx .5 lbs. ,,,,, being conservative with bux (read=cheap) , I looked for an alternative. So a couple of months ago I busted up one of those junk Chinese JBL HT subs. It did have nice rubber feet tho, and they were salvaged. weighed them.. .45 lbs. and they have a center hole for the screw monuting...so with a little hole enlarging (to spindle size) ....

SW presents the new FREE anti-resonance special imported butyl turntable weight - works well !!!!
