    Augspurger Horn Pictures

I had a request for info about the wooden horn commonly used in the main monitors designed by George Augspurger and installed in many of the recording studios that he consults on.

I don't have immediate access to the horn right now, but I still have several pictures I took of it at the auction where I purchased it.

Here they are, some may be repetitive (with and without flash for instance) but may show slight differences, so I've pretty much included everything

    Some pictures of the throat.

Driver mounts to back piece of 1 inch particle board which is the transition from the 2 inch diameter driver exit to the 2 inch square horn throat entrance. Middle 1 inch thick wedges and 3/4 inch wedges are attached to horn.

    Transition really couldn't be simpler.

A couple of close-ups of the dividing vanes in the throat.

Unlike the vanes in the 2397, Eastlake, Westlake and TAD horns these are simply a thin strip of uniform thickness plywood bent into a curve to help disperse the highs more evenly.

This type of vane was used on the Northwest horns that Augspurger used in an earlier version of his 2x15 + horn monitor

Kinda hard to judge the size - how wide is it? 'Any idea what the cutoff frequency is? And did you only get one?

    Hi gc12n2,

    May be this:

would a good starting point, and you can divide internal horn space with thin wall wooden pieces

    regards
