    Floating Cone Woofers

One of my new all-time eBay favorites...

    Here is the description, unedited:

"These are apparently floating cone woofers. As you can see in the pic, the cone does not connect on the edges. An audio buff friend of mine told me that's the way they're supposed to be..."

And, here's the pic of these collectables - if only they were AlNiCo, they would truly be priceless! Don - we need a WHOLE new forum category for "eBay Legacies"

    Ha!

Seems like a simple resurround (or at worst recone) job to me, but hell, what do I know!

Be ever vigilante JBL'ers - there's collectibles we've not even dreamed of!

Damn..I had a pair of L166 woofers like that and had them repaired. Imagine how stupid I am feeling now! LOL

ROTFL... that looks EXACTLY like the woofer in the L-36 I'm repairing for someone now! Even the hole in the dustcap was in the same place!!

Gee, wonder if I devalued the speaker by replacing the dustcap with one that didn't have a hole in it?!

    Regards,
    Gordon.
