    4425 speakers?

There's a pair of 4425s available in my area - they look to be in good shape - just wondered what you folks might have to say about them.
I've been listening to the 15s/2420/2405 type systems for the last 2 years - what kind of differences can I expect?
Are they Rock speakers? Classical? vintage Jazz? good all around speakers?

In my opinion they are great for a studio monitor, nice flat response. But for music I think they lack the sizzle, "not as angry", as somthing with a 2405 on the top end. Now maybe a 2424 with a 2405 could be a good idea......

There's an extensive technical paper from back in the 80s when they were in productions somewhere in the archives. Lots of good discussion of the baby butt tweeter design plus a discussion of differences between the 4425 and 4430.

I've had a pair and they will certainly rock out when called for. While they're pretty efficient, it will pay to have a good SS amp to get the woofer moving, IME. They can be quite fun, depending on the price, of course.

    Cheers,

    David
