Just for the scenery, I ordered Jeremiah Johnson the other day ...
we mostly rent stuff, but when i can find a nice copy of a film we like for 5 or 6 bucks used at Amazon - I jump. We saw "Condor" back in Feb - very nice film ... not quite ready to watch "Interpreter". I don't buy many films when the main push occurs, plus, some films need to age a bit (smile).

That’s still isn’t on region 2 DVD and I’ve seen it several times on television in the past but the impact of the image was let down due to the crummy robbing BBC!

    Walk the Line (2005)

The opening has muffled musical sound that’s hard to localize within the walls of (Folsome prison) where inmates are attending a “Johnny Cash” concert. As the camera goes pass all the cells and nearer and nearer to the beating of hundreds and hundreds of clapping and feet pounding on the floors with an almost deep pulse rumbling.

Left and right have deep low end

Centre channel is just a bit deeper than the main left and right

    Split-surrounds far less pulse beating

LFE.1 really takes control from the opening to demonstrate what good sub bass can do with an all most thunderous deep pounding that rumbles with slam and depth pulse, of the inside walls of (Folsome prison) where “Johnny Cash” is performing live to the inmates.

Vantage Point (2008) region 2 DVD

Vantage Point is fast action thriller about a plot to assassinate president of the United States. Starring Dennis Quaid Matthew Fox Forest Whitaker with Sigourney Weaver and William Hurt. It’s tightly paced with fast editiong flashbacks that takes the viewer to different advantage points that’s all compressed into 86minutes.

Framed in scope 2.35:1 colours are vibrant brightness values nicely balanced with most of exterior shots as well as some mild dark shadowy scenes.

Sound is presented in six-track Dolby stereo digital is a well balanced mix of clear intelligible dialogue that centred throughout its got gunshots and a few explosions stereo surrounds worked fine with centre back clapping and crowed effects are happening all-around. Chapter 13, 35m 55s has part of the explosion moving from LCR to centre back, while from sidewall surrounds.

A waterfall spectrum graph show the one of explosive highlights, and thou I’ve viewed this rather late, I’ll be giving it another showing in the daytime.

This like many six-track Dolby stereo digital soundtracks was vibrating the refrigerator in the kitchen "Casino Royale" (2006) has wicked low end that is supported in many parts of the soundtracks channels. The scene leading up to this had a few good Foley hand to hand combat sequences and thou the body kicks was handled mostly by the LCR the building quaking rumbling effect was handled deeply on the LFE.1 track that plays completely separate from LCRS interference, via the second sub bass.

I sure hope it’s a six-track Dolby version and not a Dolby stereo 4:2:4, version.

There’s also a remake baring the same title in production due for 2010 realise.
