Wow. Sorry to hear.
I guess you have parts for the compensation circuit?
Or are u using an Altec crossover?
Is this for the same rig you showed way back in this thread?
Yup. I am using the 800nf clone that Zilch has posted some where here. Do you think I need high comp?
I don't, using BMS 4552nd and 811b. But there is a question as to the version of my n-800-f x-over. I have never taken it apart to confirm. Everybody hates me. I'll do it eventually.
My RTA posted here is w/o additional compensation, just what the x-over provides as stock. Had to pad down the BMS more, it's more efficient than the 902. You may have to as well.
Ok then. I won't build a high comp. But I do have a built in Lpad for the n800f clone. So, I will be able to pad down the 4550s. I am patiently waiting for my drivers to arrive. Once they arrive, I will post my impression.
By the way. What type of hardware (bolts and nuts) to attach the drivers to the horns?
Hi Zilch and Skywave
I have not received the drivers yet. Usspeaker only has 8ohms and can't get 16ohm. I email assistance audio and waiting for a reply. In the mean while, anyone wants to sell a pair?
MrT
Hi T.
Both my 902s and BMS 4552NDs are 8 Ohms. I also have 4550s, 8 Ohms as well. The 9844-8B is an 8 Ohm speaker. Uses 2 414Z (16Ohms) in parallel.
Apologies for not remembering, but you'll probably know, and if you look back into the thread somewhere you'll see, the N-800-F may actually be designed for 16 Ohms.
I have no BMS for sale.
Hey Guys
You guys been playing around with waveguides. i am thinking of getting a pair as well. how do they compare to 811bs? Aesthetic is an important issue for my wife. So, I may have to put 811bs for a while.
I've been following your AK and DIY threads. Should I just get 210t coupled with waveguides?

The PT waveguides used there are for sure smaller. They image better. With the BMS 4550 or 4552nd they play flat 1.2 to 20kHz; in conjunction with compensation Zilch came up with. They are smooth. Use the Linkwitz formula Parham shows in the thread to get the driver to driver center spacing right.
With the Selenium drivers, as I'm sure u've been reading, you must cross higher. But in the Econowave scheme the woofer rolls off from about 1.2 k.
I'm sure you can easily make it work, though
I have not tried Econowave on my Altecs.
I have the D220ti drivers, so can't compare to the cheaper 210s. They say 220 is smoother.
I think the Altec horns look cool, but maybe they are too prominent and brutal for Interior Designers to appreciate. In fact, I know they are too prominent and brutal for Interior Designers to appreciate. LOL.
But in Econowave, I managed to keep it real. (See Avatar.)
Thanks. I have more options to think about.
I'm insulted you gave this same offer to others, not me exclusively.
German beer, huh?
Can't you bring some really good German beer?
Ok. That AK thread is a monster. I've never read so much stuff over a speaker. So, d220 works really well with econo waveguide. Hmm
Hi Zilch and Skywave
Reading through that long Ak thread, I came upon an interesting comments about my 811bs being gonadotrophic. Well, I am willing to try a couple of waveguides with d210 or d220. So what's the verdict? BMS being the best and how are d210 and d220 differ?
Hey Zilch, Perhaps the altec people would love to make some comments on your comment about the 811b and 511b?
Well, you get the point.
