    Failed LSR25P

I have two pairs of these little fellas. Both purchased used for less than $300/pr a few yrs back. One pair I use for a home computer monitor.
The other pair I sent along with my daughter to college for her laptop in dorm. Wanted her to begin appreciating quality sound.

Well, she cooked one of them (that's my girl!). Will power up (led light comes on dimly) but no sound. I took it apart hoping for a bad connection, etc. There appear to be two capacitors(?) that have oozed a glue-like substance onto the circuit board. I haven't taken any of the other ones apart to see how they look in comparison but it makes no sense to me that JBL would have assembled them looking this way. Anyone have experience repairing these spkrs? Or ar they 'throw away/replace'
    at this point?

    Thanks for any input

    Andyoz,
Thanks for the offer. But repairing them myself is probably not an option with my limited skills and equipment. I was thinking more of sending the board off or finding one to transplant pending cost/benefit.

The schematic I have lists the main amp board as JBL Part No. 513-00049-00

May be expensive to buy a new one though?

    LSR 25p

I have found that the volume pot goes bad on a regular basis.
    Always fun learning more.......

    Thumbs up Lsr25p

I bought a pair from a DJ recently for £75. One of the phono inputs is a bit loose and one of the tweeters has a slight dent, otherwise fine. Must say, I prefer the balance of sound to the LSR6328's I just sold- just cleaner overall with more air at the top. Bass is superb and it all holds together at the lowest volume.

Thanks, Andy Oz for recommending them.

I’d check to see if the speakers LF HF are still working. Test with simple amplifier attached to the terminals. The HF would need passive crossover. This way you’d know its just one thing that needs repairing.

Maybe ask JBL if you can have some of their ear candy?

Or then again move up to the LSR23000 with the MSC1
