    L200 and 4331A

    Dear all,

I'm now using 4311B and was luckily to upgrade power amp from Revox A740 to two Studer A68(running in bridged mode). The result of this upgrade totally exceeded my expectation.
I 'm planning to upgrade to a bigger JBL in future. L200 and 4331A are my preference. I've got a pair of ESS AMT tweeter to fill the 16K~20K range that's why I pick these two. However, I'm worry about if the two Studer A68 can take good control of the 15" woofer in a small living room. My living room is approx. 3m x 3m, and I'm planning to move to a bigger place which is 3m x 5m living room.

Besides accoustic problem, what would you guys comment between L200 and 4331A. They are all very good looking in their own way.

I've run AMT with jbl before and if you like to play at high level be careful. AMT will fry long before jbl has given up. This wasn't a big deal when amt diaphragm was $13.00. Today they are expensive. Also as a tweeter amt to 075 isn't even a contest.

    thanks Thom,

I usually run the AMT in very low level. BTW, do you think I should get 4333A instead???

I like JBL sound, of cause love most with horn. However, the living room size here in Hongkong is very small unless you're very very rich man.

As you guys all know, 15" woofer in small room will cause booming problem if the power amp is not good enough.

The 4311B sounds good but not good enough for me. I listen rock and jazz so I hope some day I can own a pair of big JBL!!

The 4331A is a bit more refined over the L200B and they are both smoother and less boomy than the L200 Studio Master.

The 4331A has the cut outs for an easy physical conversion to the 4333A... you can help with the crossover changes needed here.

As for your amp, you'll have to "just do it" to find out.

    Thanks!!
In addition to two Studer A68 I've got, I also have one Revox A740 pending. Some professional suggest me to go for active crossover if I really go for 4331A or 4333A either. As you all know, big 43XX can be switched to use external x-over. Do you think that will be better??
