    Empire Turntables

    Anyone out there using Empire TT's?? Just purchased a 598 III, and might need help and info on getting it set up correctly..

    Do you have pictures of it?? I have the 698 manual. If they are similar it might help you out.

    The 698's had the cueing buttons, while the 598's had the lift arm. The tone arm is the 990. Case and dust cover look identical to each other.

    It looks like the platter is the same I wonder if the suspension is as well. You want a copy??

    As far as I believe the 598 was much better made than the 698 ( I own a 698 ) because the 698 gold metallic is porous and take all the dust so after some years you can't do anything to clean it ; I believe the 598 does not .

    Ps : the empire 4000 series are among the best cartridge I heard in the MM type .

    Yes the gold metallic is smooth on the 598, and supension is adjustable. I did download manual and setup per instructions. I must say, the sound from this table blows me away. Did A/B with thorens and denon, and it smoked them both. Using Stanton 681 EEE right now, but thinking about either Denon 103 or Dynavector DV 10X5. Thanks to all for help.
