    Greg Timber's 35 years @ JBL

I just saw that Greg has just been at JBL for 35 years, as of this past week. Congratulations Greg. For myself, as a music lover, I say thanks for all the great systems you have developed over the past 3 1/2 decades, that I've had a chance to hear and buy.

On this site, if you click on the Lansing Heritage logo, and then on "people" Greg's name is one of about 6 that come up. In his bio it said he started at JBL in '72, and that he stopped wearing a tie on Aug 1, '72, his second day on the job. That's 35 years, baby.

    Smile Well done, indeed

Well deserved praise Greg, on many fronts.

Anyone who can do anything for 35 years, be it to hold a job, pursue a profession, keep a marriage or other significant relationship, volunteer to help others, teach, or be a friend deserves kudos, especially these days.

To excel in one's chosen endeavor and to be recognized by one's peers and one's customers is also an admirable accomplishment.

Finally, to keep your perspective, sense of humor, and passion alive is really the crowning achievement of a life well lived.

Here's a little, non-exhausive check list for our readers:

    Decade Series
    Prima Series
    4300 Series: 4315, 4330/31, 4332/32, 4340/41
    L200B
    L300
    L250
    Ti Series
    Everest DD5500
    XPL Series
    K2 Series: S5500, S7500, M9500, S9800
    Northridge Series
    Studio Series
    Performance Series
    Project Array Series
    Everest DD66000

Greg had a hand in all these and others, some as the new guy and some as the Chief Engineer. I've seen it written, but not authoritatively, that he also designed the SVA Series which I'm very fond of and that he had a hand in the TL260 (though Don McRitchie has written otherwise http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...ead.php?t=8996 ).

I'd particularly point out the Northridge and Studio Series, which, given their market segment placement, represent to me an exceptional accomplishment. Thanks to Greg's and other's work on these, I've brought many an entry level enthusiast into the JBL fold.

    Thanks, Greg!

I believe Greg had a significant hand in the XPL series too.

    Yes, you're right!

I'll edit my post, but of course you deserve all the credit. Thanks, John.

I think one Greg's first, as the new guy, was the L212, in at least a small part.
I may have been the one to start this thread, but my posts will always pale compared to Ti Dome's. Well done, and no one deserves the praise more than Greg.
Now if we could only get invited to Northridge to hear Greg's greatest system yet.

Greg, a special thanks for brainstorming the Charged-Coupled Network concept. With a push by Giskard, I built CC networks for a pair of custom L212s. They made a very good speaker even better, along with mirror image and spikes that didn't exist, either, in '77.

35 years with a company is a long time, my hat goes off to you as I revel in the sound coming from my 250ti's.A true work of art. Just hope you're not forced to retire like Ed May.
