    Nice!
Is that crossover in a JBL box? I can't make out that print
What is that round thing in the upper right corner, in the box with the crossover?
Where did you score those pieces at that price?
    Congratulations

I rode bike down to GW salvage today. Ran into a friend who had just come from an estate sale where he picked up a nice Pioneer receiver - cheap. He has no interest, other than to flip and make a little profit.
Took a look and it seemed well cared for, but told him that I just could not carry it on the bike.
No problem, he says .... we'll deliver it to your house with my new car and then I'll being you back here where your bike is locked up.

We did. And I bought untested, as he did.

Turns out that I can find NO issues. 10 minutes of cleanup and it'll be ready to sell. I love those old wood sided Pioneers ..built way better than their price points.

NOTE: it's pulling FM Stereo w/o any attached antenna & ALL lights working.

Those from that period were very nice
Good to great build quality and straighforward to work on
I think Pioneer moved away from the black face as they looked too much like the also nice Sherwoods from the same period
    What model is that one?
Make sure to check your DC offset though
Nice thing about Pioneer stuff is that most all of them at least had a trim pot for it, everyone I've ever had did
    That's a good receiver

    snagged these today

    .
looks like they'll recover. You don't realize their weight till you buy them by the pound , load them on a bike and make a mainly uphill trip home in hot weather ..

    anybody need a pair ?

It was kinda surprising. I fed full freq. signal thru them for testing (laying on their backs) ,,,, besides bass, there is pretty good mids and even limited highs ,,,, coming from a LF driver.

I've heard worse complete speakers in their boxes.

We'll make a JBL 12-inch believer out of you after all!

It's the "meh" we have to work on. Another 128H variant. And I always forget the Jubals, intentionally!

I had completely forgot them until an hour after that post and had to
go edit them in. Unconscious block ?

(think I kept the 4311b's, L65's & 4412's for the shortest periods of the 12 incher group.)

    2 pairs of headphones today

    .
some CONCEPT CE-H, CONSTANT ENERGY ORTHODYNAMIC's (web pic)
    and Koss's 727s.

    Kosses ? meh
The Concepts evidently are Pacific Stereo re-branded Fostex's ... comfortable and sound fantastic ... guess I like ortho's. Seem actual leather earpads. some slight noise in 1 ear when I move, so looks like I'll have to open and check solder joints.

Sure do like that Fostex sound

oh, and some patch cables ....

KOSS made some of the finest sounding headsets ever made
They also made some of the worst
All depends on the model and version
When they basically owned the market they built to so many price points it's easy to understand why they might have a rap for being crummy today
Some of the early PRO4 variants are still great sounding cans even by today's standards
A few, like the PRO4 are still in production
And you can still get ear pads and parts for most of them, all of their higher up models for that matter
Pretty good testimony for sets built more than 40 years ago
The pro models do need plenty of good clean power though to really show off what they can do
And they're big and heavy as hell
