    long safari yesterday

    .
    no audio gear

But , I came across this wall clock. The only marking is "Genfa" . I ASSUMED it to be German , Swiss or Scandinavian. Grabbed it up and packed on the bike. Turns out to be W. German .. dated 1954 . it's been running all night . makes a non-standard double strike.(like a "ding - dong" for each strike). Search on the name does not show any others like it.
I think the case will refinish nicely. Going to lightly sand and refinish in that Mandarin Teak tung seal/stain that worked out so well on the 120Ti's.Initially thought it was teak, but now thinking it may be German walnut ? Interior pic shows non-faded color.

The works has a cool quick release mount. 2 easy screws and it's out.

Only problem now is that I've run out of wall space to hang it

no audio today, except a bunch of Pomona banana plugs ..
BUT I'm always UP for old clocks ....grabbed this one

C.1930, Seth Thomas, "DOVER", mini spring banjo clock in excellent original condition. Clock is complete with original eagle, label, finish and good silvered dial. Has Seth Thomas 4 jewel movement number 103A, with 8-day duration.

solid wood, no veneer here. (with inlay, of course)

amazingly it still had it's eagle.

I Unintentionally sold the Walsh F's last night.

A CL buyer came over to look at some 3 way SEAS speakers that I'm selling. He brought his audio friend to help check them out. They had been buried in a closet and it took a lot of rearranging to get them out.
The friend checks out the other speakers in the LR ...JBL's, ESS's and the Walsh F2's. He has omni's too and asks to hears the F2's. They are good.
I mention that they replaced the F's that had been there for 8 years and had just made the swap out recently. They wanted to see the F's. Then hear them.

OK, the F's did their magic ... everyone who has heard them wanted to purchase. I've resisted. But now they are just taking up a lot of storage space.
He asked price and I quoted the last offer that I had gotten on them. OK. No haggling.

Took 2 trips to convey them home and gather enough money , but they are gone. I already miss them ...

I just hope you were paid for them and did not give them away (it's always been difficult for me to sell anything as well, but much more so if I did any sort of restoration work or repairs)

Those Ohms have a fairly substantial value

Buyer of the F's came back last night and also grabbed the custom SEAS with the British stands. More Benjamin's.

They sounded very much like my departed L-86's.

I was going to ask you if they took what they had originally come for...................now I know
    Congratulations on closing two deals

The SEAS speakers came from there. The Ohms were CL back in 2007.

I've got the Mosaic box "MILES DAVIS - THE COMPLETE BLACKHAWK SESSIONS" I haven't even opened yet (the shipping carton)

Got the Mosaic "The Complete Plugged Nickel Sessions" too (played that one though!)

Gotta LOT of nice Miles stuff actually

Bit on Mike Hobson's sexy story and bought TWO of the 200 gram blue pressings of "Kind of Blue" as well (they only pressed a 100 so said Mike, right before they finalized their "Quietex" formulation or so the pitch went) then turned around and promptly released it in blue on 180
got the 45RPM pressing..........................and on and on

Bought the first four 180 gram Zeppelin releases (that's how Classic did it) and then stopped buying records (became disabled, no money to burn) Alledgedly the best that have ever been short of pristine first pressings..............and all analog from start to finish using the original tapes. Page kept dicking them around over the pin-wheel cover for "III"; amazing Classic was ever able to complete that project. I've played them once and like I said, never finished the catalog ("Houses of the Holy" my absolute favorite, I missed it and of course it's the one that's currently selling for it's weight in gold) Fortunately my well traveled originals are George Piros cuts

I have a LOT of vinyl like this I should sell while I'm still alive...............my Son is the only one that has a clue but unfortunately Rock and Jazz aren't his bag so much (the minutiae of record collecting details)

funny thing is that I really don't care for horns (with a few exceptions) .... grew up with Dad playing Mr. Aker Bilk over & over. That experience plus the horror of Kenny G. turned me off to woodwinds too. Mom's love of The Canadian Brass pushed me over the edge

Maybe my ears just don't like the freqs that they produce ?

    But Jethro Tull is OK.

Guess that's why I've settled into classic rock (minus Chicago & BST)

I am sorry to hear that, but we already covered that ground in another thread and if I remember correctly your sensibilities were bruised

For the record, Miles didn't play a "horn" he played the trumpet; don't tell trumpet players their instrument is a "horn" aside from the fact that it's not

From what you say, it's wind instruments at large you've got it in for

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream.................and try as hard as you can to move beyond Mr. Acker Bilk

Weird too, but I don't think I am alone, the flute is one instrument that for the most part just pisses me off, especially solo. Do like martial music a great deal so the piccolo and fife get a pass in my world

I like Bud Shank, but not so much on vinyl; too many trips to the table to pick the arm up and jump over the flute tunes, like when John Lennon alternates a Yoko track with one of his own
