    F2 specs :
    response: 32- 20,000 HZ

last Saturday I picked up a Technics SL-D2 DD table w/o head or cart. So I found a generic head and middle of the road Shure cart and aligned it by sight and hooked up. Wow !! the fullness blew me away. Dug out the old records and found a JBL Sessions double that I'd gotten from the dealer. It was so good that I listened to all four sides twice and dubbed it off to mini disk.

Since it did speaker testing ( various instruments and freq sweeps) , I turned off the sub and 4410's in the rears so as just to hear the Walsh's. There just are not enough superlatives to describe the sound. Fantastic !!

Forum member Magnepan has been over a couple times in the last 2 weeks listening to them, maybe I can coax a review out of him..

maybe a low setting on a heat gun with a putty knife around the edges? seems like the baffles are already going to need some work, right?

I got my hand in thru the LF opening, the frame of the mantaray is held in with 4 nylon friction screws...couldnt budge it up from behind..the top side was put down with these fasteners and then covered with a thin plastic trim plate...I lifted one corner and saw the top of the fastener, but then there is no way to pry it up and anyway you've screwed up the trim.

May just leave it in and clean the baffle around it.

picked up this beautifull pair of SONANCE speakers today. Wish they said JBL on them as they sound so outstanding...web shows retail of $400-500.

its essentially the same speaker as this..

    You are a busy bee

I am constantly amazed at the bounty you acquire. You must be Rick Cobb's best customer though.

good guess, but wrong...I was in Asia a month ago and visited the foam factory ...this is what I stuffed in my suitcases....you would fall over if you knew what I paid for the foams OR the speakers.
( I traded for the L36's - 2 turntables that combined were $8....almost makes up for the real money that I've spent for audio gear in the past))

    You are truly certifiable!
. . . . the kind of example I point out to my wife whenever she thinks my hobbies have pushed me over the edge. That's why one of my best friends is a young guy with 42 motorcycles.

I have spare L-26 grills and always thot them the came cab as the L-36,,but I tried them, the L-36 is about 3/4 inch wider. The L36 grill also has a verticle metal bar in the middle from top to bottom - forming a slight "V".

The L-36 grill is exactly 13.5x24

    Congrats Seawolf.

Do you still have your 4412s? Once you've refoamed the Horizons I'd be interested in your A/B impressions, if you'd be inclined to do such a comparison.

    Fangio-

I sold the 4412's about 2 weeks ago, still remember the sound pretty well. When L166's are done I'll do a "virtual A/B" and report.

The reason that I kept the 4410's and sold the 4412's was the bass. On the 12 it felt a bit "flabby" , not as tight and controlled as the 4410.
