    Ha -- you're hooked

Just make sure you got em in the right way round. If you think I am kidding just try it , you may well get a surprise. To make sure there is no ' cleaning effect ' caused by the insertion of the said wonder cables take an rca plug and insert it in and out of all the relevant sockets.
    Please report your findings.

Glad to see your are keeping busy , best regards Mac

Had a hard time justifying them , but heck, just carrying them in the bike pack made my iPod sound better....luckily it was half price weekend , would not have spent the marked $5 on them otherwise....

They were worth that (probably just in the connectors).
Just don't expect magic, or you might hear it .

The best opf this is it costs nothing to try out. I was a major sceptic and I am not kidding until avery nice fellow tried me out on it blind test
    Do your own test..

I certainly agree with 'hear it for yourself' and be satisfied with your own findings.

I've done this myself and have no problem spending cash where I find value such
as in workmanship and quality connectors (or shiny things) and appropriate cable,
having made more than a few to very high standards.

    once upon a time

    True story

I was selling Hi Fi in Glasgow so I have a customer for a tasty small system. I remember this very well because it hinged entirely on the cable direction thing.
    The system was :-

    Oracle Alexandia TT
    Denon Dl 103 cart
    PS audio pre amp /PSU
Quad 303 power amp ( UK equivalent of a Crown D60) ish
    JBL 18Ti

Hooked it all up and it sounded like doggy doo. It should not have, at all. The one component that was unique was a custom cable about 20ft long rca- 4pin din to get into the quad power amp as the guy wanted the power amp as near to the speakers as poss and out of sight.
After a lot of head scratching I re made the pre power connection with the cable in the OTHER direction.
The transformation was extraordinary. I will not waste adjectives but suffice to say the system was sold instantly.
Bet you that fellow still has that set up coz it sounded lovely.

Now please tell me why that works. but all I need to know is it does and all you need to do is try it out -- and its free !!

I must emphasise again I was THE biggest sceptic of this , it just went against everythig I was ever taught , but ??????????????????????????

I don't doubt it at all.

I'd -guess- shielded cable, with the shield only connected on one end, with the ground
connected to shield at the reference/source end sounding better (or component grounding
arrangements that happened to be more compatible with the cable the other way 'round).

There are many ways to improperly ground/shield or otherwise attach a sensor/source to
an amp or pre-amp. University of Rolla-Missouri used to offer a good course on shielding
    and grounding...

Ha! Grumpy, you beat me to it as I had the same thought. What else could it be, since it is an AC signal?

There is much mystery surrounding interconnects and speaker cables, and it is not all caused by hind-end audio marketing foolishness. After all these years I really don't know why my field coil compression driver horn systems sound much better wired with simple 26 gauge copper magnet wire than with most any heavier/more complex geometry audio salon speaker cable, but they do. Lucky for me, my favorite cable costs about 50 cents per mile!

I've never been a big believer in megabuck cables (and dont have the discretionary cash to play around with them) , but did make a connector change that IS audibly superior...

I pulled my modest "interconnects" from the "CD out" to "MD in" ...and replaced with a TOSLINK ...WOW

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toslink

The guys over on the MD forums claim that the MD deck has a better DAC than most CD players and so , despite ATRACS , a CD digitally dubbed to MD can sound better than the original CD.

I'm seem to generally hear more clarity and am very happy with the results.

went out on CL safari today to a multi-million dollar home on the river with private dock and picked up this Adcom GTP500 mk2 with remote...long as I was there, also took an Adcom GDA600 DAC ...seller is a dentist and kept gear in good condition.

Owner said he got emails from all over inquiring abt the old DAC...
he advirtised it as a Adcom phase inverter

Funny, on the way home I stopped off at GW surplus....grabbed an air cleaner of the model that I rehab and clean and flip...I've sold at least 10 of them in the past 3 years...its a $750 unit , works fine and will make more than enough to pay for the Adcom gear.

    WOW...really

    .
    .
did some horsetrading with a local LHF member , essentially that SL-1200 and some refoams for some JBL carcasses and a pair of Yammy NS-590 3 ways ...the Yams are funny as they have the Be tweeter from the NS-1000 , but in a cheap faux wood vinyl print cab..

finished up the refoams and reassembled the speakers,,,,WOW

that may be the best HF that I've ever heard anywhere ...I thot beryllium was just a selling point....but WOW...never heard paper or titanium sound like that ...geeze..

still need to do the cosmetics..

I also have a pair of NS-690's with better cabs and LF drivers...going to swap that 590 Be tweeter into the nicer pair and see if they work properly.
