    In the last week,

picked up another Apt/Holman preamp, pair of PS8's, Sony dd tt w/linear arm (sounds really nice) its programmable like a CD player and you could stack in a gear stack, these Infinity ref pair (sound incredible) and this weird German mantle clock ...thankfully stuff is going out the door at abt the same rate.

Does anyone know abt the Hermle clock ?? I cant google anything on this except that other Hermle's are expensive. It is pretty big at 17 inches wide and 8 inches high. The base is solid walnut and the clock case look to be solid birch..it sits on 4 brass feet and the bezel is a cool convex glass

next day ..the finities are gone, really gonna miss them...ah, the good times we had together , (well, at least 18 hours )

I guess you found the Hermle website.

And, we might even lose you for a few days while you get acquainted on the ClockForum!! Hell - there's one for everything...

    Keeper

Tom innit lovely-- just for the noise it makes when it moves. FWIW Erica Studer took me to dinner once upon a time. She is Swiss and therefore made no noise at all

Lancer 77's ...pgood condition, cracks in hard surrounds , traded a cantankerous Sony tt for them.

    NEXT DAY
: I listened to them yesterday, wasnt really impressed. Looked at old threads and saw they are worth $125-150 when refoamed (all 4 needed) ....stuck them on CL and =presto= gone in 5 minutes to a flipper who "cheated" me out of them .

    Indoor safari

well ,with the snow/hail/sleet/sunny cycle going lately I decided to go on safari to my unused bedrooms closet ...expected old suits, unfashionable clothes...but was surprised to find these Altec 409-8D's and a nice little pair of AR4x's ....(besides the old rags) ...tested them, all play well ...the coax Altecs I think will be Ok when in a cab...the AR's pretty good "as-is" ..some terrorist musta sneaked in and left them , I do not remember ever buying these.

could not find reference to the Altecs anywhere on this site.

took the wiggy Sansui 9090 (with the wall switch wired "in-line" - no knobs/lights - had been sitting on the patio for a year ) to the shop , he bought it ..went out and got the 4 pristine JBL P-20's and a sub , came home with money in pocket

Have not even dusted them yet.....sound fantastic - 2 eights, both active, I think- , beautiful veneer
( i'm a veneer junkie) .....they were set to bi-amp, but the wrong posts had been used, the correct ones were screwed down tight , the wrong ones were half way up ..

I've had some that I liked a lot. I use A40s for L/C/R in the theater at our lake house with a Marantz receiver. No complaints at all.

went out on safari yesterday and grabbed some JBL model 50 speakers (BestBuy junk) and some old Blonde KLH 6 speakers (sound OK) but the real finds were a Pfaff sewing machine (like new) and a MSS-80 .
.the Microsoft sound system was produced by Philips (according to rumor) and was a super 3 piece PC system...it can go analog or pure digital (only needing usb , no soundcard) and is the only computer sound sys that just gets louder and louder without distorting (prolly cause of no DAC) it uses WOOx Technology for the sub http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOOx
and is the flat out nicest thing you can hook to your computer outside of real gear
