so my fave grab-o-rama transferred in a new manager a couple of months ago , it's all turned to crap.

But the store that he left has taken off .... it's too far for me, but a friend does get over there.

He grabbed the pair of 120Ti's , refoamed them and now jokes about being buried with them someday.

Just got a call. Now he picked up a ReVox linear TT in fine shape with a V-15T4 , all RTG

I've never been able to bring myself to trust a tangential tracking deck without professional inspection and calibration. I have a Phase Linear I've played a few times to test it, but could never bring myself to put a record on it I actually cared about.

I've owned it for more than a decade.

I should probably just part with it, but it feels like a bit of history (both generally speaking and personally - it was actually a gift from an ex.)

When I look at it, I often think of it as the DeLorean of turntables: Defunct brand, very silver, very 80's, very high-tech for it's era, and likely a questionable performer without lots of maintenance and upkeep, and even then...

I had the Pioneer version of your PL. (PL-1000) . It sounded good but was so heavy that the springs sagged and the platter would scrape on the plinth. sold it and watched it being resold multiple times on local CL.

yesterday I picked up a US first edition of MOBY DICK (no, not the Led Zeppelin tune) ...online prices go from $215 to $300. *note the cool gold cover of the whale tail in the water, spine is gold pic of harpoon & rope. Very collectable, wish I had time to read it.

Got some wire yesterday ... 2 runs of 11ft AQ . Pretty, but too short for any of my systems.

Nice find. And if I relate on their advertising on youtube, that device probably has a few functions specifically for bachelors... ;-)

The Speaker Safari actually scores some ............ (wait for it) ...................... speakers
(and they be JBL too )

All drivers work , no refoams needed , have all grille pegs and both grilles ,
twist lock posts looking good , cabs will need slight retouch (very slight)

And they sound really fine ..detail,detail, detail,...detail..detail...
surprisingly good bass from little 6.5's.

half hour tops to get them in saleable condition.

just felt like staying in , today. Ran across the little DAC . My quad core desktop's p/s
croaked a while ago and have been using the Sony duocore laptop. With an external kb
and mouse and run off to my 24 inch monitor, the laptop runs closed up. People ask
"where's the computer" ?? Anyway, it has digital optical output, so I configged win7
to go thataway and plugged in the Fiio . WOW The 120Ti's are happiest that
    I can ever recall.

That little Taishan is a screaming bargain at $20 street price. 24/192 of course.

I've been so happy with the Fiio's sound coming off the laptop , that when I was sorting the other day, and ran across a second unit (that I didn't know I'd owned ) , the reaction was "Now the TV is going to get an upgrade"

have been running Toslink digital optical from the TV to my 2003 Denon AVR. It has a DAC and I thot it was doing OK. Today I subbed in the just discovered 2nd Taishan . WOW .. going from an ancient dac to a 24/192 dac made a huge difference.

I love finding new fun stuff in my audio graveyard.

I installed the new outboard DAC in the home theater yesterday, took longer than it should due to a dumb mistake.

Decided to check it out the install today. Put on the blu-ray remastered "Hotel California" . It was very nice.

Then thought I'd try it out with a movie. On hand I had "The Lone Ranger" DVD and remembered it's dynamic soundtrack. That one blew me away and breathed new life into the a/d/s towers.

The high point, of course was the Wm. Tell overture . Got to trying to recall the composer ? Kept thinking "Rimsky Korsakoff" ??, but NO, am sure he wasn't Russian , I know he was Italian. CRS moment.
After about 3 minutes it finally popped into my head ...duh. Gio. Rossini.

Gettin' harder to remember this stuff as the years progress

Out bike riding/thrifting today and ran across this fair sized sub. Did not recognize.
It's much bigger than the 1 pic I could find online. Turned out to be a NHT W1.

System Type : dual woofer subwoofer with two 12" aluminum cone drivers (high excursion), an A1 amplifier and X1 Active crossover included.

    System Power : 250W RMS

    Peak Acoustic
    Output @1M: 112dB SPL

    Frequency Response: 26Hz-140Hz. +/- 3dB

Input Connectors : 5-way binding posts.

    Dimensions: 22”H x 13.5"W x 16.65"D

    Weight (subwoofer enclosure): 71lbs

    Finish: Anthracite matte lacquer

price was fine, put a hold on it (24 hr.) , got home and decided not to risk somebody else
snagging it. So I went back and hauled it home with the truck. Clerk said that 2 different guys were pushing to buy it (in the hour I was gone) and happy I came back same day.

Drivers look perfect. Cab has a dinged corner. Web seems to think the supplied amp with these goes
belly up often. I don't really need it with 3 subs already active in the house.

Anybody have experience/knowledge of this model
