Based on the story of the 2000 Kursk submarine disaster, Kursk follows the final hours of an "unsinkable" Russian nuclear submarine as it sinks to the bottom of the Barents Sea. Some of the crew survives the initial explosion, including officer Mikhail Kalekov (Matthias Schoenaerts), whose pregnant wife (Lea Seydoux) and child are waiting back home. Unfortunately, their rescue is complicated by bureaucracy between Russia, France, Norway and Britain, with British navy chief David Russell (Colin Firth) attempting to convince Russian officials to accept foreign aid.
    All about the Increditable Secrecy.

The large red plate port side forward is actually a buoy.

When I first went on board, was part of Seaman Gang, in port.On it was engraved, to the effect
"At the end of the line on this buoy is an American Nuclear Submarine sitting on the bottom.
Welcome Aboard But Wait, Rigging for sea we strapped it down so it wouldn't RELEASE.

First day I got "in country" (after a long flight) , at the airbase they loaded us into a cattle car and we crossed the major river to go to the receiving base. As we crossed (and acclimating to huge heat/humidity) grenades were exploding around us. Turned out to be the bridge guards that toss them at anything suspicious floating by.

That night, B52 strikes nearby. Rolling Thunder.

Our squadron was the only one ever established & de-established in the war zone ... it was only active less than 5 years but had 44 KIA in that time.

"The famed “Seawolves” of Helicopter Attack (Light) Squadron (HAL) 3, which was established in 1967 as the Navy’s first and only helicopter attack unit in response to the unique mission of close air support for Navy SEALs and riverine forces operating in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War.

Flying UH-1 Huey helicopter gunships, the Seawolves would go on to fly more than 120,000 combat missions and become the most decorated squadron in the Vietnam War."

the cute little names that you have for attack helos are .... cute and condescending.
Never flew into a "hot LZ" , some did, but generally USN pilots like to stay alive they tried to fly smarter. We had old, retrograde Army birds that we flew heavier than even the newer Army ones. We flew at night, Army didn't. It takes a lot of finesse to do that.

Cool OKAY ... back to audio

    .
been acquiring a lot this summer. no time to mess with it as this year has been fine weather for cycling (200+ miles for Oct.) .
The Senn HD-650's and the Oracle Delphi have just been waiting for days when I'm stuck in the house.

The TT is still waiting, but last night I got to spend some time with the 6xx's (a great MassDrop buy). They are better than my much loved HD-580's , even running off a DAP.
Sure, I know there are most expensive, higher rez cans out the and this model is at least 15 years old, but damn . Most of what I listen to is not high rez , new stuff.
The 60's/70's (even 80s/90s do well). They are so comfortable that almost fell asleep with them on.

they are still on for $200 delivered (220-20 bonus) https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-sennhe...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

If you know audio gear, you know the Sennheiser HD 650. The company’s flagship from 2003 to 2009, this open-back headphone has shown serious staying power. Praised for its richly detailed, effortlessly enjoyable sound, it remains one of the most talked-about products on Head-Fi today—and is still widely considered among the best headphones under $1,000. So when we teamed up with Sennheiser on its first-ever community-driven design partnership, the HD 650 was a natural place to start. A new revision of the popular all-rounder, the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX has that same great sound plus a few updates, and a price that makes it even easier to love.

Grabbed one of these today, tho absolutely have no need for another amp.
BUT the condition was mint and it was made in the UK.

I was looking for a place to use it and wondered it it could be a bedside headphone amp ?? (sucker has some BIG heat sinks) ... hooked up some cans and an I/P line from the Nano ... . Just demoed with lesser headphones, just in case , it was outstanding .... but will give the HD-650's a try tonight ... shud be even better

a rather well used one ..

so I'm sure it was donated as the gain control was very staticy.

racked it back & forth a number of times (power OFF , of course)
and now no noise at all ... sounds PFG for a $10 amp.

Interestingly, the phono i/p is switchable from MM to MC.

By 1985 ..... During that year Creek introduced the more expensive 4140 integrated amplifier that excluded tone controls but was slightly more powerful. The market became far more competitive, with up to six UK companies in fierce competition with Creek. However, Creek remained the market leader. As a result of exceedingly good UK press, export demand accelerated and before long the 4040, 4140 and 3040 (later to become the 3130 and T40) were selling in 20 countries.

During 1988 Mordaunt Short made an offer to buy Creek Audio Systems in order to add an electronics capability to its loudspeaker sales. The offer was accepted, with Mike Creek agreeing to undertake the role of chief engineer.

snagged a pair of these today.

    .
while only moderately priced, they are comfortable and sound very good
(far surpass many that I've had in the past)

If you heat them, you may be able to pour them in.

    What are those speakers?

    Hi tom,

The resonance damping soft rubber feet on that TT are probably quite flat by now… pretty good one.

yeah, those feet are most likely embedded in the carpet
, at least he didn't put the speakers on top of the receiver, that's (on top of the tape deck on top of the TT)
