drug one of these home today

    .
weighed 6 pounds, most cd or dvd players are 3-4 pounds. It's normal DVD, plus DVD-A/SACD playback.
Great condition and sounds very good. I think it will go into one of my living room systems to replace an older Marantz CD player whose controls always confuse me in low light.
It's also a lot thinner and will free up some much needed room in that cabinet. The Marantz is a sought after model and I should come out way ahead on this swapout.

    DVD-Audio/Super Audio CD playback
    CD upsampling
    192kHz/24-bit audio DAC

    Great weather ..high 70's/low 80's

gotta get in my bike riding since the stupid city is going to replace 2 bridges that I cross on my most productive safari rides in about a week. (closed until November, don't look unsafe to me )

The main category that I search for is audio, followed by photo, clocks ..anything interesting..

nothing in the first 3 yesterday, but we all like nice wood here, so I'll share this beautiful little French walnut thermo/hydro/baro meter. The body is solid and the front burl is super .. , looks even better in person

The dials are white, camera made em look yellow ??

NEXT DAY EDIT: bridge NOT unsafe , they THINK the footings MAY impede fish

The current span, known as Bridge 48, is supported by concrete footings submerged in Johnson Creek. Officials say the pillars impede fish traffic .

A new steel-and-concrete crossing with a $2,348,830 price tag will be constructed

just looking for ways to spend money that they claim we don't have enough of ...

Looks to be in great shape! How old do you think it is?

I don't really know ... did a google search on the rear sticker and found

    Woods We Use

    https://www.heartwood.com/woods-we-uses.html

they have really nice woodwork , some items relatively cheap, others not. Couldn't find this burl on solid walnut on their site, nor anything with French weather gauges.

I cleaned it up a bit after the pic ... already have 3 German barometers on the wall and at 9 inches wide , it was perfect to perch atop the 250Ti's.

Shot off an email to Heartwood and will see if they have any info.

    a not-attractive one.

Thermometer, Barometer & Hygrometer Made in France, Heartwood Creations

    Desktop or hang on wall
two metal clips hold each one to the other.
    Great condition.
    Works!
Made by Heartwood Creations- which means it was a special order-
Has Amoco Logo on each of the dials. There's a Thermometer, Barometer and Hygrometer, all made in France.

Among todays safari treasures, I grabbed a big binder full of uncirc
USPS stamp sheets , $147+ face value for it all. The more collectable, I'll sell , the less ..well we'll have stamps for life.

anyway there was a collectable Jimi Hendrix sheet of forever stamps.
never knew such a thing even existed ..

Hauled home a pair of JBL Pro3's & a pair of Blows151's. 20 pounds more to pull uphill on the bike.

The driver in the bloze looks like the little array ones from a 901 set , but incredibly the B sold for more than the Pro3 and has higher resale value.

    No accounting for taste/value .

Pro-III with its subwoofer (Pro-III+) makes a damn fine cheap little system.

Have to refoam the P3's, of course (oh boy, another project) , have lots of small subs so will give your "damn fine cheap little system" a try ... but not this week.

FWIW, they crossed the sub at 125Hz.

picked up a nice L-Fifteen pair today, cabs good, grilles good, need refoaming.

16 lbs.each , so nearly 35 pounds bungied to the bikes rear. 2 Ikea bags, each holding a single, slung over the rack.

Steering was funny and it was a slow trip home, but made it safely..both the speakers & me.

Price was just too good to leave them in the store ... just the 8 grille pegs alone sell on eBay for more.

    Returned today.

A friend had a beautiful pair of Celestron English speakers. Looked really good. Heard story of books being wheeled out and a box on top labeled "Thorens". turned out to be a TD-160 , good DC and accessories.

Does the handwriting on the boxes indicate that these were what was pulled when they were replaced with the new drivers originally shipped in those boxes?

Did you carry those on the bike??

    yes & yes

the boxes were too big for my saddle bags, so I put them 1 each in IKEA blue bags, 1 on either side for balance (+bungees) ... little pups were kinda heavy, but when you've got that much invested ....

sometimes the Safari doesn't yield speakers, but

    .
    other interesting things ie: books

1872 Volunteers Regimental book ,,, they participated in the "March to the Sea" with Sherman and the siege of Atlanta.

inside is a typed note from a descendant of the commanding officer.
