    Hey Seawolf.

I suspect these are speaker wires. They are built as flat ribbons most likely to "stealthely" fit under the carpet. ;-)

think I agree with you Lee.

not any audio today (except 3 LP's) , but I enjoy playing with clocks. Found the Gilbert cottage clock. Think it will run . needs some veneer help, but everything is there.
One auction site puts it's date at 1895 , but a clock collectors site says 1866 - 71 (they like to use internal labels for dating) ... 2nd pic is what it should look like when I finish it.

I carried one of these Altec's around for a while in my shopping cart..was in fine cosmetic condition. In the end, the potential downsides outweighed the upsides and I traded it off for a "future draft pick" with a friend.

Another that I know picked up a decrepit Bible. We looked at it, trying our best to read Latin. The consensus was that it was printed in 1677.

My CL WTB-JBL's ad came thru again and think I'm off to pick up another pair later this week

went to Mongolian BBQ lunch, then drove

    .
out to Beaverton for these. The wif always enjoys a safari trip , esp when I get them for near my offer price (+$25) .... one mid is dimpled , next project. Veneer looks pretty good. Came from a mover that took them as a gift from the original owner when he was downsizing his residence.

Picked them up from the trunk and a red speaker terminal fell off , must have been loose and the vibrations coming home finished their release.

Funny thing is that I sold those little B&W's (from a couple of posts back) and some trinkets for exactly the amount this pair cost.

    I remembered ...

back in the 70's/80's (???) I made some stands for my L-100's and found them today. yes, need some restaining/blacking .

They are my own design made from 2 x 12 's , cut halfway down the middles and slide together. Walnut stain on one side and black on the other ... reversible.

Pups are heavy and sized exactly for Centurys and not tilted, but they do get em up 12 inches off the floor.

when your audio funds were limited .......

    couple more clocks yesterday

    .
at least 1 is audio related ... Lp one is glass , HM one is welded metal (flash sure shows you where cleaning is needed)

Lunch cost more than both of these.

Angry buying used audio in PDX is about dead , nearly ...

    .
have not seen anything of value in the thrifts in a while. A friend did find a C@ry mono block amp cheap and then located the match online for a bit more..but that's about it.

Couple of times a month I get hits on my WTB ad. Went out and picked up a ratty pair of L86's and some decent Wharfdales. Projects.

DID grab an interesting book (no,not an audiobook) .... 1880 , first edition from Allan Pinkerton ..you know, founder of Pinkerton Detective Agency.

    PROFESSIONAL THIEVES AND THE DETECTIVE

Interesting stands you made way back when, Tom. If they're made for L100s, they'd work just fine for L110s. I have a couple of short pieces of 2x12s in my garage I could easily make a pair or 2 out of. What are the dimensions?

Are things thawing out at all there in Portland yet?

each 2x12 is exactly 17 1/4 inches. They do NOT cross at 90 degrees, each is cut halfway across and fitted together . Used them with L-100's, L-166's , 4312's and 4311b's. All fit well.

PDX snow is gone, but still not very warm.

    It looks so innocent.
    "Pictures of the fuhrer's life."

Is it dated? Pre war maybe?

Seems that the affection of some for a populist and nationalist discours is nothing new... And don't worry, I am not talking about you, but more in general... ;-)
