JBL 4530 with JBL 801C drivers. A good idea ?

I have a pair of JBL 801C drivers and my first idea was to build Urei 813C clones. But i have read many times on this forum the 813's really performs better when soffit mounted. That's not an option in my living room.

Since the 801c driver is based on a E-145 cone and the E-145 were originally mounted on some 4530 it seems to me a good idea...but i do not have any technical background. What do you think ? Thank you.

The 801 made the Urei 803/809 famous as studio monitors. Perhaps you could pursue that direction. But I guess it all depends on what you expect from your speakers. But proper time aligning is on your wish list, then the JBL 4530 is not the way to go... They have the notorious phase inversion and dip at 120Hz. But they do have that all mighty kick in the chest

Thanks for your input Lee. As i don't need a small studio monitor I might take the "all mighty kick in the chest" route

Not to get too specific, but the 801C 15" coax was the heart of the 811C, 813C and 815C monitors which had a single coax, a coax plus a helper woofer, and a coax plus 2 helper woofers respectively.

The 809 was a JBL creation that was a 12" coax based on the JBL 2152 coax reconed with a urei spec cone and horn:
