From an engineering point of view I am wondering what this speaker is good for, looking at size, costs and system performance (in a car).
I do only see - except from "Boah ey!" - there are easier ways to destroy your ears - recommended RMS amplifier power 3000 - 6000 Watts.

It's good for about 136 db.

Put it in 15 cubic feet for the HT application and pray the ceiling fans stay up and don't hit you in the head!!!!!!!!!
The MTX factory is about 40 minutes from my house, they take up a lot of real estate.

Rudy Bozak made a 27" full range driver with an 8" edgewound aluminum voice coil and 450 lb. field coil magnet structure when he was chief engineer of Cinaudagraph in the late 1930s. A bunch of them were used at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Good response to 10kHz. was claimed.

I think I'd rather listen to one of Bozak's big boys than these modern stroker (or is that the owner?) woofers. These things sound to me like a manhole cover fitted with a voice coil.

If I'm not mistaken, it's been a while since I read up on it, you can get a 1 ohm vc for max spl or a 2 ohm vc for max fidelity. As far as what's it good for, If I'm not mistaken, above a certain level money changes hands in these competitions. What good are cars with hydraulics that can jump but have no springing. What good are scrawny looking roosters with razors attached to their legs. I believe the purse can be substantial. I wonder how they define HiFi?

They left "HiFi" in the dust long ago. Now they're about bursts of killer db output at a particular frequency.
Sometimes pursuing very narrow goals to exceess can lead to performance improvements in an everyday setting like the way car racing engineering enhancements can trickle down to your daily driver.

Here is a "graphic" demo of the MTX moving air, 1:30 to 2:00. Very low frequency output is visible on the upolsery and clothing.
