    044 restoration

Going to polish up a pair that are lightly corroded. Domes are in OK shape
and they sound fine. Any caveats before I open them up, or suggestions
regarding screen replacement? will check w/ pro parts tomorrow (ala 4411):

    60424 screen
    60752 screen retainer

I'd prefer to get (or make) silver color screens vs 035-type.

    Thanks and regards,

    -grumpy

Get the black ones and a can of silver spray paint. I just ordered screens and retainers from JBL Pro and they are in stock for 052's.

Grumpy, I am parting out a pair of L112's, the 044's produce NO sound where the rest of the 112 system works perfectly. I was going to thrash them but if they can be of assistance to you, your more them welcome to have them. Not sure if they can be rebuilt..
    They have the silver screens..

    NLA confirmed

    For anyone else looking...
silver wire dome screens and retainers for phenolic/Al 044 are currently NLA from Harman or JBLpro.

    60424 screen
    60752 screen retainer

Trying the 052 route (black), per Rob's suggestion... can always use on 035Ti/A

    62711 screen
    62664 screen retainer.

I have one 044 screen to part with. Sounds like you need two, though.

I should have a few of the silver screens left if you still want any. Send me a PM if so. I always replaced the silver screens with the black screens so that's why I have a bunch of silver screens.

Did you leave the bodies in aluminum, or turn them black somehow? Just curious. I've got a stash of used 044s to carry my L112s and L150As into the future (the rest of my lifetime) and a couple of them could use aluminum refinishing. I'm thinking about chucking them in some sort of rotational device and refacing the original turned surface. Any suggestions would be appreciated, including making them black. Thanks.
