    Simulation of circuits containing vacuum tubes

    Based on SPICE:

    Moin, Peter,

    Another option is TubeCad, with which I've had limited, but satisfactory experience;

    I lack the ambition to start from scratch, but it has been a big help in deciding best choice of currently-available parts values to substitute in some restoration applications.

    Moldyoldy,

    thanks for mentioning Glassware. It is not unknown to me, but I have become very resistant to W$ (although not abstinent) because of too much frustration at work.

    On the other hand I like very versatile products like SPICE. Until now I did not start a bigger simulation of my own, although I have some really good examples for speakers too. A bass reflex enclosure with two speakers (look at my avatar) is the challenge.

    Another future project is rebuilding my Philips 120 W tube amp (1956). Some simulations will be enlightening for some mods. A new forumite gave me a link to the service manual.

    friendly greetings
    Peter

    Peter,

    Several years ago, I was given a pair of what appear to be kit speakers, small, corner cabs of stained ply, which housed some (Phillips?) FR 12" drivers. I cleaned and tested them, but never put them to use, so they're merely occupying space. If you have a use or desire for them with your Phillips amp, you can have them for the price I paid. If not, any info you might have in their regard would be appreciated.

    Moldyoldy,

    thank you for your offer. There was a time when I would have liked the idea. It has been when my father in law made music with smaller equipment. For him I rebuilt a little amp with a green cone, well sounding.
    Later he made a real bargain, we realized that it was a BR with an EV speaker, really expensive here. I added a high efficiency top with Audax (Prosound) and an ISOPHON Hf horn. I still do love it.

    Formerly I liked these speakers with an extra HF membran (Kegel), but for me the time is over. I do not have any details (but "9760 M" looks very much like Philips ). It seems to be an Alnico magnet. Imagine, 12 inch full range speaker with Alnico magnet (Black Cone by Philips ), best suited for a backloaded horn. Some really like it.

    I do not really need the Philips amp, but it is worth a try.
