    4343mkii

    Hi guys!

Has anybody listen to the 4343MKII? ... And compared them with the original 4343 or later modifications of them?

You may be meaning the JBL 4344 Mk2. ?
No, I haven't compared these, nor have I heard the 4344 Mk2. I do have an vintage JBL 4343 and I must say it is supurb!
I believe the 4344 Mk2 is made in Japan and uses different drivers than the US made older versions of the 4300 series monitors. I remember hearing someone say on this forum that these may not have the low end of the 2235s and, though they sound nice, don't have the classic JBL signature sound.

The 4344MKII was made in the US, but mainly marketed in Japan. Details are here:

    http://www.lansingheritage.org/html/...7-4344mkii.htm

I haven't heard them, but a number of people have commented positively on them. They were recently replaced by the 4348 shown here:

    http://www.harman-japan.co.jp/produc..._cons/4348.htm

P.S. The 4344M is a made in Japan product under license. It has no JBl involvement in the design or manufacture.

    Yes Tom. 3433MK2 My error.

Maybe somebody else here on the forum have them???
Yes I know the 4343's. That (or 4350) is what I want. My 4333's will then be used "other places" in my surround system.. mmmm.

Thank's Don, for the information of the new speaker. How does it sound? Anybody knows??

    Thumbs up

I bought a pair of 4344Mk2s in Japan and brought them back to America. I describe them here:

    http://cgi.audioasylum.com/systems/3203.html

In my current room (14' x 14', 10' ceilings), they were tough to place. I was able to avoid boomy bass only by positioning on a room diagonal, which had the happy additional benefit of reducing sidewall reflection problems. The sound is open, dynamic, deep, transparent--easily the best I've heard in my home.

Before auditioning, be sure to replace the 9V batteries (accessible from behind a screwed-on panel near the speaker connections) and to twist the driver level controls back and forth to clean them and set them to 0.
