    Pre amp output voltage

    Okay wise men,
I am changing my amp/xovers from the 771 biamps to the following:
    Carver C2 preamp
    Crown VFX-2A
    Hafler DH-200 HF
    Altec 9442 LF

I am worried about 2 things.
    1. The output voltage from the Carver C2. Is it enough voltage to drive the Altec 9442 amp on the balanced inputs?
    2. How much overlap at the 500Hz xover point if any do I want to set this thing up?
I am acutally thinking that I might need to get a differnet HF amp since the Hafler does not have output controls.

    Opinions from the wise?
    Peter

I also have a problem with my ADC Eq.
On first turn on, it sounds very distorted till it warms up and after playing for a while (5mins) the sound starts to get distorted. Ideas?

    no claim here...

Won't the crossover be driving your LF amp? Maybe Scott? has info on whether the
Crown xover has gain (and gain controls) to help balance your amps. -grumpy

Okay, I should have said experienced........
I was thinking, if my LF Altec amp has gain controls and it is 200 watts vs 100wats for the Hf Hafler then I could possibly balance it without need for gain controls on the Hafler.
I have not found a suitable HF amp in my price range yet.
I am looking at a 9441 on ebay right now but have not heard good or bad about it.
The Xover does not have gain controls.

At the risk of putting my foot in my mouth yet another time ,
I'd -guess- that you'll need attenuation on the -HF- end to balance
(or waste watts in a resistive pad)... -grumpy
