What years was Citation gear was made?

I looked on H/K web site and found the manuals for the Citation 19 power amp and the 17 pre-amp. I saw on the last page 5/77. I'm getting these two units to run my CC L212s.
The only time I can remember seeing Citation gear in Nevada was in the mid~late 90's, in Reno. Although I may have seen some in the shop where I bought my original L212s, in '79.
I know H/K was a subidiary of Jervis, during part of the time Citation gear was available.

    Citation 16

I was going to say I purchased one of these new from Advance Radio and TV (Winnipeg) in 1976. They were very heavy and had useless long chrome rack handles. The problem was you could not get your fingers around the skinny handles because the clearance from the face plate was minimal. The led's were kinda fun in a dark room.

However, it was a great sounding amp.

I used it to drive the 2202's, 2440's, and 2405's on my 4350A's. Phase Linear 700B's on the bottoms...

I remember being on a hi-fi show in Oslo in 75. They used the 16 at that point.

I just got a notice today that the Citation Nineteen amp got shipped today. So now I'm just waiting for the Citation Eleven pre-amp to ship.
When they both get here I will finally have an amp system worthy of my mirror imaged, Charge-Coupled L212s.

    Thumbs up Citation

John - congratulations, nice to see another member banking on these H/K amps from the 70s, to drive larger JBLs. I'm currently using a black 17/16A combination in my rig with very good results, and like their design - a form of 'vintage studio look' with these brushed rack bezels and chrome handles.

Crossing fingers yours arrive safely, I was lucky to get mine both locally. I don't think they have to fear the comparison to many of those modern 'less is more' preamp/amp combos, rather the contrary - and would be interested to hear how they turn out for you, once they are set up.

    Cool!
Bypass the coupling caps with polystyrenes.

Assuming I can find any, what size would I want to use?
I never did get around to adding the .0056uf polystyrene capacitors for the 066 in the L212s I built.

I want to say that I used 0.1 uF. It was a long time ago.
Check Michael Percy to see what he has left.

In their day this line stirred lots of controversy. They attempted to place themselves alongside Mac and such and some accepted this and others scorned it. Actually there was controversy around the HK stuff as a whole. I have no position as to whether they deserved the praise, or the other salutations. Just for some reason they seemed to be one of those cup of tea things. Lots of people either loved them or hated them. Just threw that in there as it is historically correct. Perhaps everything that isn't boring middle of the road has some of that. I know JBL sure was a Love it or hate it in HiFi circles but that I do have what I believe is an informed opinion about.

Thats the reason why comparable mcintosh units still command TEN times the money on the used market - its all about faceplates. And I believe thats why almost all owners refrain from modding them - they have to hold their value in original state.

Oh well I did not have (to have) that kind of repressions.

I guess if I had stopped for a minute I would have realized that this wasn't news.

    Absolutely.

The Citation 19 needed a bit of help on the top end, hence the bypass caps. It was a decent amp. It was just a suggestion, nobody is going to die if one doesn't bypass the coupling caps. Usually what happens in these scenarios is someone will compare normal with bypassed and chose one over the other and the world keeps right on turning either way.
