CF 150 tweeter blown

I have a pair of JBL CF 150 speakers and from what I can tell the tweeters are blown. The tweeter part number is: [FONT='Calibri','sans-serif']D025N55J1970 I googled the part number and found nothing, I would like to replace the tweeters and get the speakers working again. What are my options for replacing the tweeter or is there anywhere/way I can get the OEM tweeter?[/FONT]

Almost the entire rest of the speaker is still available as parts from
jbl.com.

this tweeter is no longer available through JBL,your best bet is to keep an eye on ebay.

So the JBL tweeter is discontinued and the chances of finding it on ebay are slim to none. What are my options for putting something else in there?
Another brand? How do I know what I should put in there?

My most serious suggestion would be to find something that fits in the hole.
I am not being facetious. Try to match sensitivity if possible, shoot high if not
(can always pad it down). Also probably would want to replace both tweeters.

Post a picture of the dead tweeter, front and back, with a tape measure or ruler in-shot (to get an idea of size and scale). I can probably find a good replacement, having that info...

Without seeing the original, I'd hesitate using the Pioneer 3/4" dome... that's a smaller tweeter (the original is a 1"), which may upset the sonic balance and/or power handling...

I have to be honest... I'd never heard of a JBL CF 150. I did a Google search and came up with this... looks like an OEM tweeter from??? Maybe Gordon or someone else recognizes it.

I doubt the tweeter is all that special, with a little care I'd expect you could find a replacement that would be an upgrade. You may need to adjust the network, and I would certainly replace the pair of them.

Has this been done? (email or call harman parts)? they may have a suggestion.

To be painfully clear, the Pioneer part from Parts Express was only an example of
what could be looked for and where, not an outright recommendation. It would be easy
to over-upgrade. With a 4.5KHz crossover, spending >$60/pair like:

The CF150 does exist, I also have a pair, and a Tech Sheet for it is available via the Links section of the forum, right here:

This is not a speaker using vintage or otherwise pedigreed JBL components. Who made the tweeter, I dunno?

Replacement of the tweeter is not super simple, as the CF150 is specified as somewhat sensitive at 98 db SPL @ 1 Watt/meter and your average one inch dome does not match that spec. Matching that is important.

FWIW, by some wild coincidence, a JBL 2402 (075) bullet tweeter will fit in the cutout and align with the mounting screw holes of the original tweeter, although the mounting holes must be drilled through and opened up a bit. It's also not pretty, but it will fit. How do I know? I've done it.

Beyond that, I am not recommending this as a quick, simple solution, as at least an L-Pad would need to be added to match the sensitivity of the 2402 to the rest of the system, and the cost of a pair of 2402s, if you can find them, may be more than what was paid for a pair of the CF150s. Parts Express had 2402s at one time, not anymore at $279 each!

I would do a little more testing on the current tweeters b4 I started the quest of replacing them.

swap from cabinet to cabinet. check leads. ...etc.
