My hat's off to you Niklas!
You're one crazy JBL fan!
What on Earth do you do with all those subs?
I hope you notify the authorities before you switch that lot on!
Cheers,
Ralph

I'm new to big JBL's, but I am very pleased with my humble hi-fi rig at present. Here goes:
JoLida JD100 CD player
Kimber Tonik to...
a Grommes PHI-26
Via Kimber 8TC to...
4333's courtesy Jay, my beloved scratch and dent specials that are in perfect working order, and sound like it! Thank you to all the members who supplied the wisdom and knowledge to help me acquire & ship these awesome classics, on the cheap no less.
...and to my Stax SR5/SRD6-SB's direct.
A Niles DPS-1 to select the Grommes or my...
Denon DRA-635R (for HT Stereo and playback for my kids so they don't mess with my good stuff!)
In reserve:
JoLida JD502B
No longer needed: Allison 115's, Marantz 3300
I know this is a pretty basic rig for this group. (I don't play vinyl now because it would take years to clean my collection to the standards this system demands.) I don't need more gear because I have the Grommes. Let me explain.
I don't run the 60W JoLida because the Grommes sounds much better and has plenty of power for the 4333's at 6W pentode, and for the Stax at 1.8W triode. I run the volume control at 9 o'clock. I can't say enough about the Grommes. It's Class A and everyone says it sounds like at least $10K. It's $995. A world class line stage, or integrated; the line outputs are great for a sub with bookshelves or for bi-amping. Also probably as good as ANY headphone amp. Alan Kimmel rules! Some very experienced ears around here say it sounds as good as or better than most stupid money tube gear.
Another key is frequent use of HDCD sources. Please tell Microsoft, who owns this technology but doesn't care about it (acquired the company for another product), to push this over the newer BS systems who's only real virtue is anti copy features, not the promised sonic improvement. Provocateur Records' interesting offerings help too, as do Japanese XRCD's.
Now I'll sit back and enjoy my music and the more knowledgeable and entertaining membership here pointing out where I'm full of ...uh...beans.
