    S119 drivers

    G'Day All,
I have done a quick search looking for info on the JBL S119. Don has put up a lot of information on the general model (Aquarius series) but does anyone have detailed information on the drivers used etc. in the S119?

    Thanks & Regards Scott

    Question S119

    Hi Scott

The picture you posted looks to be an Aquarious 4 ( S109 ) . Are you sure of that S119 designation ? Maybe it's some sort of export variant.

I have system component information for (4) Aquarious speakers. I have info on numbers 1, 2, 4, & 5. I don't have info for the 2a or the Aquarious 3 ( though educated guesses can be made based on the 1970 catalog info ).

The S109 system used a le8t-2 (8") for the woofer and a le20-1 for the tweeter. The crossover was the LX12-7 . The le8t-2 uses the C8R2115 cone kit which has no aquaplas coating on it .

    Thanks Earl,
The seller assures me that they are S119's and I have asked for a photo of the name plate.

    Acording to http://audioheritage.org/html/profiles/jbl/aquarius.htm
    and I quote...

"The last incarnation of the Aquarius concept was developed strictly for the Asian market in 1990 as the S119. This was virtually identical to the S2 but used shielded drivers and was produced in a gloss finish. "

Is this one in your info?

    Thanks & Regards Scott

    Hi Scott

My old system info must predate the S2 designation. So apart from what Don has written ( le8t replaced with 108H & single le20 tweeter replaced with 4, 1" types ) - I have no new info . I guess you're wondering what those tweeter types actually are ?

    G'Day Earl,
Thanks for having a look in your data.

    Theses are on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=1499

The seller has confirmed that they threw out the bass drivers because they where blown and replaced them with a generic 10" (I think he may mean the outside diameter of the drive) from the local electronics shop.

So I cannot even see what was in them...

    Regards Scott

    G'Day Herve,
Thanks! I at least know it should be an 8" bass driver.

Does anyone know if there was a shielded version of the 108H?

    Regards Scott
