    LE 14 WOOFER

I've just received a pair of C53 style enclosures which have LE14 woofers and a HF unit and dividing network (LX8). My question is: does the LE14 have a very limited excursion? The cones of these woofers dont seems to move say as much as a 2231. This is my first experience with LE14 so any help is appreciated

If the LE14's have the original white lansaloy surrounds, they're probably pretty stiff by now, significantly limiting movement. Some people have temporarily loosened them up with brake fluid, (a search will turn this method up), but the recommended fix is reconing, or just to get by, replacing the old lansaloy surrounds with new foam versions.

Without recommending the brake fluid, may I recommend that if you do use it use it very sparingly and remove it when you are satisfied.

    Le 14 brake fluid fix

Wow sounds extreme...but makes sense...does anyone know were this is explained? Is there a suitable foam or rubber replacement?
    Thanks! Rich
