    speaker wire

been meaning to upgrade wire on my B speakers in the LR , they are the 4412s. Got to the store the other day, found some, but not enuff $ in pocket.

Today, picked up 100 feet of "carol 12/2 underground low energy circuit cable for outdoor lighting"...is there any reasonable reason that this 12 guage wire should not be as good as any other ?

That's about 45–46 cents a foot after shipping, so it's not a super deal, but still cheaper than this:

    PLANNING AHEAD.

It was raining hard today, so stayed home to wire in the "B" set of speakers (4410s) with the new wire.

This 12 ga is made for underground lighting and has a thick jacket. So, I drilled the large holes in the floor near the speakers and a second one near the amp. Fed the 45 ft or so down the hole near the speakers and went under the house.

Planning ? I grabbed the wire and crabbed over to the hole near the amp. guess what ? can't get there from here. The hole is about 4 feet past an unpassable heating duct. Oh F*ck.

Solution ? came back up into the house and pulled it all up (and it's semi-tight in the hole and doesnt move easily). took it across the room and fed all 45 feet back down the hole near the amp.

Back under the house again, with a Chinese bamboo back scratcher in hand. This time I was able to reach across the top of the duct with the backscratcher hand and snag it. Foutunately, I had stuck an arrow down the hole near the speakers so I cud find it again and feed wire back up.

Everything worked out OKAY. But due to poor planning, there was an extra trip slithering (in 18 inches of crawl space) this stiff old body to do what shud have been one trip. I will pay for the lack of planning as I try to sleep tonight. Ouch.

Was smart enough, at least , to locate left from right wires with the Ohm meter.
